The Art of Domination

Preview

The beauty of BDSM is that it can have so many facets and layers to it. Many of the mainstream kinks are centered around impact play. Where there is an object in a dominant’s hand and it is being used to inflict pain on the submissive. Now is this a form of physical domination (can also be known as sadomasochism). But physical domination goes beyond just the pursuit of pleasure and pain. The submissive could be bound by the rope in a particular position. Or the dominant places a firm hand on top of the submissive’s mouth whispering not to make a noise. Physical domination does not have to be painful. It's about the dominant having physical control over the submissive.

Typically there is so much more that’s going on in a BDSM scene than meets the eye. There is a psychological contract being played out as well. The submissive is allowing the dominant to do these things to their body. The submissive is honoring the dominant with the ability to control the scene, with the expectation that the dominant will curate a pleasurable experience for both of them. The dominant knows the boundaries and limits the submissive has set, and intends to play inside those lines. Consent is important. By removing the decision making from the submissive, the dominant is creating psychological domination. A mind-to-mind understanding that control is being given up, and received - this can also be called the power exchange.
